Our Mission Statement
Our mission is to make available dignified employment, contribute to a sense of worth, and foster respect for adults with differing abilities through the selling of quality products.
Our Vision Statement
Our vision is, by the grace of God, to provide our son who has autism and other adults with differing abilities, opportunities to contribute to the community in a safe environment and help secure their futures.
What We Offer
We currently offer a variety of socks for men, women, and children. We strive to provide an exceptional shopping experience that includes courteous service, quick delivery, and the knowledge that you have contributed to our son’s, and hopefully others in similar circumstances, support and encouragement.
Sharing With Others
SammySocks Etc. also believes in helping others. We donate five percent of our earnings to United Partners - Pflugerville. United Partners - Pflugerville is located in Pflugerville, Texas. It is an organization that allows adults with differing abilities to come and spend the day to learn, work and live as a community.
The Significance of the Peacock Feather in Our Logo
The significance of the peacock feather in our logo is that Samuel is very tactile defensive. He has a difficult time dealing with any kind of human touch. If he is prepared for it, he can tolerate it. However, if he is bumped by accident, he can become distressed and possibly have a meltdown. We use the peacock feather to show how some people on the autism spectrum can only tolerate the lightest touch…. like a feather. The colors of the peacock feather also closely resemble the colors of Autism Awareness. So…. the peacock feather.
We hope that the experiences you have with SammySocks Etc. will be encouraging and supportive. Thank you.
Meet Sammy of SammySocks Etc.
Samuel is a young adult. He was born in Round Rock, Texas. He was diagnosed with PDD-NOS at age four. He began speech and physical therapy soon after. He was homeschooled by Sally, his mother, until the seventh grade. Samuel attended middle and high school in the Hutto ISD. He graduated from high school in 2017. He then attended the Hutto ISD 18+ Program until 2020.
Samuel is very verbal with us, his parents, but not around other people. He has many OCD behaviors and is quite rigid in his daily routines. He responds well to instruction but needs constant prompts and reminders to stay on task. Samuel is easily distracted. Samuel does not like change. He does not like strangers. He gets along better with women. Samuel does not like loud noises or to be touched.
Samuel has quite a few interests. He likes trains, elevators, toilets, video games, bells, clocks, and Walmart to name a few. He really likes the Walmart in Clifton Park, New York. We have visited it three times in the last four years. He also likes the Walmart on the west side of Flint, Michigan. Both Walmart stores have a unique feature to their public address system. A sound like a train horn is emitted before each announcement. Samuel really likes this.
Samuel likes to take rides in the car. He likes to listen to music on the radio while riding. He is fond of Katy Perry. Samuel has the ability to “mash-up” songs. He knows which songs go together. One song will be playing on the radio and Samuel will be singing another song along with it at the same time.
SammySocks Etc. is quite small currently. We sell socks for children, women, and men. Our website is www.sammysocksetc.com. Samuel puts together our information packet. He puts a candy treat, a discount coupon, a poem, a Sammy Saying, and a card explaining our story into a baggie. This baggie goes with every order. He also puts together our Bells and Whistles Bag.
Samuel is eager for you to order from SammySocks Etc.!
