Why Have a Crazy Sock Day?

     Crazy Sock Day is a day where people can celebrate and wear crazy socks. National Crazy Sock Day is March 21. This is also Down Syndrome Awareness Day. Down Syndrome Awareness Day was designated in 2005. Crazy Sock Day came later. The wearing of crazy socks was added to help draw attention to Down Syndrome Awareness Day.

     Crazy Sock Day can also be day to celebrate crazy socks all on their own. Crazy Sock Day can be held on any day of the year. You can tie a Crazy Sock Day to other events and activities such as a sock donation drive, a pre-STAAR or post-STAAR event, a “Say No to Drugs!” activity, as well as others. A variety of academic and just-for-fun activities and events can be conducted in celebration of Crazy Sock Day. It is a day to have fun, socialize, and let personalities shine.

Why Have a Sock Donation Drive?

     Socks are the least donated clothing item for those in need. Those who are in need of clothing, especially socks, need fresh and clean footwear to help keep their feet safe and healthy. Socks help keep feet warm, dry, and free of disease. To someone in need, socks can provide warmth, comfort, and dignity.

     A Sock Donation Drive can bring people together. It can provide a way of showing care, love, and compassion to neighbors in need. A Sock Donation Drive can provide a small act of kindness to can help make someone’s life just a little bit easier.

Why Have a Sock Donation Drive with a Crazy Sock Day?

    Sock Donation Drive can help provide much needed socks to those in need. A Crazy Sock Day can help provide a creative way to have fun and draw attention to something important such as donating socks. A Crazy Sock Day is the perfect partner. A Crazy Sock Day can be the “kick-off” event or the culminating event for a Sock Donation Drive. A variety of academic and just-for-fun activities that pull in art, music, P.E., reading, writing, math, and science can be conducted during a Sock Donation Drive with a Crazy Sock Day.
