America Is Being Harmed: Our Message, Give Support, Take Action – April 2025

The purpose of this campaign is to share Our Message with people of what is happening in this country as a result of our current government, let people know how they can Give Support in specific ways to help organizations and people harmed by the policies and actions of the current government, and how people can Take Action to help those affected by these policies and actions and change for the better.

Our Message – April 2025

1. The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) as just recently cut over 1 billion dollars in funding for the Local Food for Schools Cooperative Agreement Program and the Local Food Purchase Assistance Cooperative Agreement Program for 2025 aimed at helping schools and food banks purchase from local farmers.

2. The Local Food for Schools Cooperative Agreement Program for 2025 is designed to help schools and food banks purchase from local farmers. The Local Food Purchase Assistance Cooperative Agreement Program purchases food from local farmers and suppliers to help food banks.

3. Both of these programs benefit farmers as well as provide food for school children, childcare children, and families in underserved communities. Why would anyone agree to cut any funding for these programs? How is the funding for these vital programs no longer one that “effectuates federal agency priorities”? How is the feeding of children and families in underserved communities and helping local farmers with additional sources of income no longer a federal priority?

4. These programs need to be extended to cover more people and the funding needs to be increased.

Give Support – April 2025

SammySocks Etc. will donate 20% of all sales during the month of April 2025 to the Central Texas Food Bank. 20% of your purchase will go toward helping feed people in 21 Central Texas counties affecting over 60,000 people every week. The USDA cuts will affect the Central Texas Food Bank’s ability to obtain food and serve those in need. Your purchase will help offset the costs of filling this need.

Take Action – April 2025

1. Donate directly to your local food bank.

2. Volunteer at your local food bank.

3. Contact (visit, call, email, text, and/or write letters) your local officials in your city, county, state, and federal government. Let them know that they need to step up and support local, county, state, and national food banks. You can find who your elected officials are at this website: https://www.usa.gov/elected-officials.

4. Specifically contact your federal elected officials (congressmen or congresswomen and senators) to let them know that you do not support the cuts to these federal programs that supply food to schools and food banks.
