America Is Being Harmed: Be Informed, Give Support, Take Action
August 2025
Our Message
1. Kerr County and surrounding counties suffered devastating floods in early July of this year. Many lives were lost and massive amounts of property were damaged. It will take many years to rebuild and repair the damage. You can help.
2. The Trump administration has cut or plans to cut billions of dollars of funding for programs that provide flood control and disaster preparedness. It cancelled the Federal Flood Risk Management Standard in February 2025. This program aimed to make infrastructure more resilient to flooding.
3. The Trump administration has vowed to either cut funding for the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) or eliminate it entirely. This will make it more difficult for local and state governments respond to natural disasters in the future.
4. The Trump administration has cut funding for the National Weather Service. This may or may not have had a direct effect on the disaster in Kerr County, but it will have an effect on future natural disasters. It will affect weather forecasting, data collection, impair communication with local emergency managers, hinder weather research which can help with preparedness, and will leave communities vulnerable.
Give Support
SammySocks Etc. will donate 20% of all sales during the month of July 2025 to the Kerr County Flood Relief Fund. This fund supports relief and long-term rebuilding of impacted communities including Boerne, Hunt, Ingram, Kerrville, Center Point, and Comfort, Texas. The Kerr County Flood Relief Fund is overseen by the Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country. This is a 501(c)(3) public charity based in Kerrville, Texas. It will directly distribute funds to vetted local organizations to provide rescue, relief, recovery services and flood assistance. 20% of your purchase will go toward helping provide some relief to the people of those communities affected by the July flood.
